Ash Wednesday, February 14 & all Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence from meat for Catholics from age 14 onwards.

Ash Wednesday & Good Friday, March 30 are also obligatory days of fasting for Catholics from age 18 until age 59. When fasting a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal.  If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the “paschal fast” to honor the suffering & death of the Lord Jesus, & to prepare ourselves to share more fully & to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.

Mission Statement

We the people of St. Edward Parish, a Catholic faith community, commit ourselves to being followers of Jesus Christ.  We reach out to others through worship, service, hospitality and education.  We seek to grow as individuals and families in faith by living the Gospel values.  Thus, we are called through stewardship to witness Christ to the world in word and action.
