"O come Lord God of the House of Israel,
Set us free with outstretched arms."
December 18th, the 2nd Day of the O Antiphons.
Most of us have heard "Adonai" translated as "Lord". But this title is so much more: God of Our Ancient Ancestors, The Great I AM, the Alpha and Omega, fullness of awe-inspiring, majestic, power. (Watch the "Prince of Egypt" Burning Bush Scene; yes, a cartoon, but it does an incredible job at showing this.)
The last line, the petition portion of the Antiphon, is also beautifully complex, one that I've found myself contemplating on much.
